Create memories for a lifetime with some tips from the experts

It’s 3pm on a mid-Autumn Friday at one of Sydney’s most prestigious wedding reception venues. It’s pretty clear something special is about to take place; an evening of lavish celebrations for Sydney’s newest married couple Anna-Marie Tolic and Alessandro Lombrado.

There’s a hustle of activity albeit with a sense of precision order as the café closes and full venue opens up. The final tables are being placed and the finishing touches are being put on a set-up that’s been in motion for the best part of the day.

Different people are doing different things – setting flowers, hanging chandeliers, laying table decorations just to name a few. The band arrives and starts to layout their instruments and gear. When you see the set-up of the whole room nearly complete, you get a sense of just how much planning and effort has gone in to making this event a memory for a lifetime for the 198 guests arriving at 6pm.

We know it’s the most important day in the lives of 2 very special attendees.

All the most important people they know will be there. It’s an event they hope their guests will remember as one of the best. Essentially, their wedding reception needs to be the stuff of fairytales. Alahna has been a wedding planner at Dedes Waterfront Group for more than 3 years. She’s personally overseen more than 300 weddings, most at Deckhouse and today she’s putting the finishing touches on Anna & and Alesandro’s wedding reception.

Anna | Event Stylist | Elena K Weddings


Since 2014 Elana K are multi award-winning wedding stylists who plan the entire event for our couples, from the initial design stage, working closely with their preferred external suppliers, from dance floors, chandeliers, bridal tables and centrepieces.

It’s important to consider the surroundings of the room, not to go against the ‘canvas’ rather than go with the ‘canvas’ we have to work with. Concentrating on the main area, being the Bridal Party Table, we feel this is the most important part of the styling; to retain an ambient yet romantic feel to the area, creating a story of love.

Keeping the styling classical, and not going overboard with too many elements or pushing too hard to try and achieve a ‘different look’, which is not required particularly at Deckhouse, as the views from the long glass wall are a ‘statement piece’.

Our greatest ‘tip’ would be to ensure the comfort of your guests… Ensure that any type of Centrepiece that is placed on their table is not going to obstruct their view of each other or obstruct their view to the main table area, or take up too much space on the guest tables, so there is enough room for the delicious food and drinks. Keep it simple with some really good ‘wow’ pieces.

Chantelle | Entertainment | Limited Edition Band


Limited Edition Band are Sydney’s ultimate party starters for all events from weddings, corporate events and parties. Featuring powerhouse Lead Singer The Voice Australia contestant Chantelle Morrell, who brings an engaging presence and incredible voice to any stage. Her vocals are a fusion of Alicia Keys meets Whitney Houston and Beyonce, and her diverse contemporary style allows her to draw the audience in with an acoustic duo or full band rocking the dancefloor and jumping on the floor to sing amongst the guest for a memorable music experience like no other band in Sydney.

It is important to consider where your band or entertainment will work within the space, with the floor plan and room set up. We love to engage with our audience, and our singers and musicians jump on the dance floor through out our sets to really engage with our audience, so we always recommend to our couples that the band be placed as close to the dance floor as possible!

It is also important that you include live entertainment that creates the perfect ambience for your reception, to creates an atmosphere from the moment guests arrive and is able to create a live sound track that compliments and reflects you as a couple from dinner to dancing the night away!
